Of all the exports that the Americans have sent across the pond over the years, there are some things that haven't caught on over here, and in my experience stand-up comedy is one of them. Equally, not much British-style stand-up comedy goes down well in the USA. I could spend much time going into copious details as to why this should be, but that's not what I'm supposed to be doing. Having viewed this episode of what the sleeve described as a hit TV show, I have to confess that I didn't find much of it funny - on the other hand, the audience were going bananas (pun intended!). If I had to judge Fred Travalena against some of the impressionists I've seen, such as Mike Yarwood, Alistair MacGowan and Rory Bremner, there's no comparison - the three named gentlemen are streets ahead in the quality of their delivery, the quality of their impressions and their timing. On the sleeve Fred is described as "hilarious" - all I can say is, they'd better beware of the Trade Descriptions people.
