Regular Cross Rhythms radio listeners will already know Hampshire's Flight Brigade. "39 Steps" is still on the playlist but now we'll have to make room for this, the first of a slew of singles the band have recorded with top producer Chris Porter (George Michael, Elton John). A pulverising piece of power pop pumps propulsively (nah, let's drop the alliterations). On "Strange Things" rock guitars bite over a juddering rhythm while Ollie Baines has a perfectly judged melancholic vocal and those ethereal girls do their delicate BV bit. A fine single to be experienced loud and often.
