When the Tunneys were with First Call as well as being THE group to come and put some slick harmonies on seemingly every gospel hottie out of Nashville, First Call did impeccable MOR-pop gospel albums plus some classy acapella concerts. Now with their new line up, the group plump for a new 'youth orientated' sound, have called up that wise old production head Michael Omartian, and make a serious stab at crossover. Will they find a single hit in this selection of snappy pop-funkers? Maybe. The title track improves with every play (I'd love to hear a harder dancefloor mix), the revival of Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" works surprisingly well and the one track not produced solely by Michael Omartian, Chris Eaton's "Land Of Many Tears" has a commercial hook. Classy inspirational pop throughout.

Another majestic set from the ever top class trio, including new member Marabeth Jordon. 'Human Song' displays First Call's supreme ability to tackle assorted styles with total conviction and emphasises their claim to be the vocal trio crown of the US CCM world. Points of interest include a successful version of Stevie Won­der's super-cool "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing", Bob Dylan's strong 1989 ballad "Ring Them Bells" and some new material from Michael Omartian. Class is the word for this exemplary melodic pop set. If you don't believe me, grab a couple of fellow warblers and try it out.
