Here's the second volume of a compilation put together by husband and wife duo Bob and Jayne Farrell showcasing tracks they originally recorded, with considerable CCM success, for StarSong Records between 1984 and 1989. Originally releasing inspirational balladry, producer Bob Farrell caught on to the contemporary synth sounds of the mainstream pop of the day to create songs with a message and a contemporary flavour. Listening back, synth pop doesn't, of course, always travel very well but having said that, there are some gems to be discovered in this 2004. compilation. Snappy pop like "He Will Always Make A Way", originally on their 'Choices' album, and the epic production of "Superpower" still sound good today. Overall, this collection is a superb indication of Christian pop in the early '80s and is worth investigating for one spectacularly brilliant song which was as good as any mainstream pop hit of its time. The catchy, atmospheric slice of pop dance "People In A Box", with its clever put-down of a TV obsessed generation, is the diamond in the collection that manages to transcend the era and still speak strongly today.
