I too sang under Mr. Springmann, and studied voice with him, in the 1960's. As a portion of the website I'm putting up for a recording of my folks favorite hymns and songs, I'm trying to give some tribute to him for the magnificent singing opportunities the chorus had because he lobbied for including his chorus when he had solo roles needing a chorus. I'd love to include a photo of him as part of that tribute. Any possibility you could help with that?
I can be reached via the comments page of my website which is found at:

Looking forward,
Many thanks
David

I was a student of Fague Springmann in the early 1960's. I have acquired quite a collection of his records and plan to convert them to digital on CD's. Also I would like post them on you tube for others to enjoy. My main problem is knowing whether I need to get permission from his family or not. This is not a for profit venture. I only want to honor a man I greatly admired both personally and professionally. It is my opinion that he was one of the great baritones of all time. I am one myself and have studied many others and the only one I have found to be his equal was Leonard Warren.

This EASTER I was remembering some of the most beautiful live Easter Concerts I have ever heard: and of course Fague Springman and his wife Connie at the Fairlington Presbyterian Church, (NOW FAITH, in Springfield) Graham Smith, (RIP) as well hired him to direct the Choir: Hearing his Baritone voice sing WERE YOU THERE was like being in a heavenly choir. I was there when he died in Church after he gave an amazing concert. It my privilege to have known him and I look foward to seeing him again in his new body of light. PRAISE GOD! HE IS RISEN. 2022

I am trying to find the title and lyrics to a Springmann song - Some thing about "prepare me Lord one body like man; I'll go down, I'll go down"

I can- and sometimes vividly- remember meeting, rather being sung to sleep by Mr. Springman. My parents had been introduced to him, but I don't remember by whom...for you see ,my sister and I were just children when Mr. Springman accompanied my folks to our bedroom one night. Mr. Springman's solo (with no accompaniment) of " The Lord's Prayer" rang the walls!! This event took place over 50 years ago, however when I recite "The Lord's Prayer" I travel back in time to that eventful evening!

Our family knew the Springmans in Alexandria, Va.I treasure the recording we have of Fague's. Am interested in any information about his family. What a blessing he was!

Ms. McGonegal,
I came across some genealogical data about Fague Springmann's family while researching distant relatives of mine. I would be glad to share what I can.

I am a cousin of Fague’s and would very much like to be in touch with you about his recordings.
