This is the debut album from a Bath-based singer/songwriter and it's quite promising. The vocals are quirky in an attractive way and the songwriting is sharp and confident. I'm not convinced that her potential has been fully realised here - at times it's hard to make out the lyrics, and while it may be deliberate for effect, I found the piano sound rather tinny. Also, some song structures could be tighter. The title track is inspired by the words of Julian of Norwich - "All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well." Its message of "There's order in the chaos, beauty in the madness" really hits home. The songs range across a variety of personal experiences, but my favourite track is "Sailor", a hugely infectious romantic song about marriage effectively using nautical imagery - '"You be my anchor and I'll be your sails." Maybe this has been done before but rarely as well as this.
