The fifth album to come out by American singer Erin O'Donnell is this modern take on some well known traditional carols and some not so well known Christmas songs. It's an album you could have on in the background and forget about as you eat your dinner. Her warm voice, backed expertly by guitars and piano, is a successful mix for the upbeat tracks such as "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing" and "Angels We Have Heard On High", with slower, more acoustic tracks such as "O Come O Come Emmanuel". The album, produced and recorded by Ed Cash, offers an element of both jazz and pop. It's consistent in the use of musical interludes to add calm to Christmas day. Worth a listen if you want a Christmas album that's not all the same old carols.
