An enterprising album recorded by one of Britain's best known Salvation Army bands, 'Classically Enfield' includes Salvationist transcriptions of such popular classics as Mozart's "Magic Flute Overture" and themes from Dvorak's "New World Symphony". There are 17 tracks in all, and some work better in brass arrangements than others. I wasn't so convinced by Enfield's version of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus From Messiah" but I have to concede that it is a good and rousing way for a Christian group to end a classical CD. If you warm to the idea of classical works played with considerable aplomb by a tightly rehearsed Salvationist ensemble, this is one to search out.
