This Eikon are not the Nashville-based band of that name but an electronic duo from London and this is their second EP. With a soulful electro sound a little like the mainstream's James Blake this is an impressive release. "I Will Follow" has an eerie, doomy atmosphere though with an uplifting lyric ("There's a hunger in my heart/A hunger in my soul for you Lord/And it grows and it grows/And it feeds me like it's never fed me before. . .") sung with soulful intensity by Dave Hendra. Unlike some experimental electronica "I Will Follow" manages to be accessible and appealing. With finely judged production from Dave Pilcher (who in the past put out electronica releases as The Naïve Machine) intriguing electro sounds are evident on the even slower "Less Without You" and though the skeletal guitar-led "Soul Singer" seems a little out of place it too retains a haunting atmosphere. One could label Eikon's music "electro worship". Eikon are clearly an inventive duo bringing something fresh and invigorating to UK church goers. . . though sooner or later they'll need a couple of faster songs.
