Reviewed by Joy Attmore Recorded live in Los Angeles, 'Make Way' is the debut album by E58 Worship, the music branch of Expression58 Church, founded in 2007 by Shawn Bolz, Jennifer and Jona Toledo in Glendale. The church was birthed from the vision of Isaiah 58 and fosters a thriving community of creatives and worshippers. The album features seven of the community's worship leaders, with eight of the 12 songs written during a week's retreat earlier this year. From the gentle piano notes intro-ing "First Love" written and sung by Jez Fowler, to the joyful gospel sound of "Love Goes On" led by Reeco Butcher, this recording reflects the diversity of its community with vocalists originating from the US, Australia, Barbados and South Africa. A theme of intimacy flows throughout, further evidence of the unity from which these songs were created. Dan Lutz, co-worship pastor and producer, said, "The journey we've been on as a family - loss, love, fear, victory, pain, healing, faith. You can hear it all in the songs and stories, all written to bring Jesus close to those who listen." This is a hugely impressive start.
