'Crazy Praise' is the debut release by Atlanta-based self-proclaimed first lady of hip-hop, Dice Gamble. "First lady may be pushing it a bit but this release is very assured with stylish, commercially assessable hip-hop that is currently ripping up trees on the other side of the Atlantic. . . Dice is on her game with well crafted lyrics tackling diverse issues with an assurance and clarity that is at times breathtaking. "I Call Him" is a prime example with an up-tempo style which perfectly compliments the positive truth affirming message. Influences from the likes of Mary J Blige and Lauren Hill are very evident here but that's no bad thing. The title track fizzes with positive words rapped over high tempo beats. In a very male dominated scene (even in Christian hip-hop) it is great to hear a strong female voice. What makes this even more exciting are the production values are far superior to most Christian hip hop releases, which is no wonder when the likes of Devine Evans (Mary J Blige) and Khalisani Morris (Nappy Roots) having been employed in that department. 'Crazy Praise' is sassy, soulful and searching.
