The Scottish band are celebrating 30 years since they formed and have continued on a part time basis in recent years after the initial run of hit albums. Certainly, they have released some fine albums in this century and this feels like a continuation of their fine work. As usual, their strengths include the melodic songwriting of band leader Ricky Ross and the soulful delivery of his singing. "The Believers" is the opening track and first single from the album to be released and very firmly nails the band's colours to the mast. There are lots of classy moments here from the pure uplifting pop of "This Is A Love Song" and the gorgeous drifting "What I Left Out". "Birds" has an insistent groove and like many songs on the album sees Ricky Ross's voice perfectly blending with Lorraine Macintosh, this time as they sing "One day we're gonna be free". There were plenty of moments where this album brought to mind their debut 'Raintown' and it's safe to say if you have ever bought and loved a Deacon Blue album, you should immediately add this to your collection.
