'Sweet Mercies' is a fine collection of songs from David Ruis, full of truth and feeling. Written in a personal way and beautifully sung. this is a most enjoyable CD, not least for some exciting electric guitar particularly on "'Just Fine"' by one time Violet Burning member Shawn Tubbs. In fact the musicianship is quality throughout. "Let The River Flow" is a bit special, written part in English and part in the Saulteaux language (a North American indian tongue that is similar to Cree). It has some superb percussion and drums which create a wonderfully atmospheric feel. I've enjoyed listening to this CD. It should have broad appeal and is unlikely to disappoint.
