There's nothing tacky and recorded-in-a-bedroom-porta-studio about this privately financed tape. Good graphics, good producer (Steve Thompson in fact, the keyboard maestro and recent compatriot of Graham Kendrick), good songs. It's only in the latter that we strike our first problem. All the songs are covers of US material and though David has gone out of his way to find classy stuff from way back (Larry Bryant's "The Artist" or Jessy Dixon's "You Bring The Sun Out") a whole album of covers doesn't hit the originality button even with such classy pop-gospel arrangements as these. Still, let's not get churlish. David has an attractive, flexible voice, ol' Steve never produces a note in the wrong place and this is CCM of an excellent quality.
