David Fitzgerald, ex-founder member of lona, takes us on a musical journey from the 6th to 20th centuries in his own unmistakable style. A mixture of Celtic influence through to the excellent soul number "Were You There" sung by the very talented Vanessa Freeman. An album which will maybe take a few plays to be fully appreciated but once you let yourself drift off with the fabulous flute and sensational sax then I defy you to take it out of your deck! The opening gambit, "Veni Creator" - a hymn to the Holy Spirit - is sung in its original Latin by H M Queens own counter-tenor Tim Brown and the closing offering is the most beautiful rendition of "When I Survey" which really does send a shiver down your spine. A great collection. To get the best out of this one you need a quiet room (if you can find one), close your eyes and allow yourself to be wooed by this musical virtuoso on a journey through time.
