In his letter accompanying his tape Mr Thwaites says some nice things about the mag but chastises us for using terms like 'Wakemanesque' and 'Pomp Rock' in our review. So I won't use them. (You have. Ed) Instead, I'll observe that this 24-year-old Englishman living in the German part of Switzerland has a home studio which will be forever Middle Earth. This compilation cassette from his first five (yep, five) home produced albums is, in parts, a stunning evocation of all that the best, synth-led progressive rock has to offer. Alongside some fine playing are lyrics whose fluid poetic imagery speak a lot deeper than many a contemporary CCM album. If you're a progger (oh, there we go again) get your money off to Switzerland.
