Rhode Island-born singer/songwriter Pettigrew has released an expanded version of his 2011 EP 'The Walk' to offer up alternative versions of the songs found on the original release. Pettigrew's main asset is his voice and he delivers some great '80s big ballad vocal performances throughout - most impressively in "We Will Remain" - whilst the likes of "The Love Of Jesus" and "Even If Not" tell of God's immeasurable love and the need to persevere in stirring and anthemic fashion. Pettigrew has a penchant for allowing his songs to start quietly before building in dramatic fashion and, whilst stripping arrangements back always carries a risk, the piano and vocal only versions of "The Love Of Jesus" and the worshipful "Hallelujah" lose none of the intensity of their full band counterparts. A smattering of radio mixes and acoustic versions are included for good measure before "We Can Be The Love" - complete with a simply gorgeous string part - closes this enjoyable and worthwhile reissue.
