Once dubbed the Kettering Cowboy, down the years the veteran has dabbled with other styles (including his underrated rock project under the name The Broken) but here settles for an easy going set of largely self-penned songs which often have a shuffling, country tinge like on the excellent “Immortal” and the equally impactful title track where a Hammond organ gives it a nicely sonorous feel. Elsewhere there’s a jaunty arrangement of the ancient Fanny Crosby hymn “To God Be The Glory” and a wistful ballad “I Long” co-written by Dave’s son Chris. All in all, this is an engaging set from one of the UK scene’s most faithful journeymen.
