Country music is truly a divergent musical style. Here we have a deep voiced singer backed up by some silky strings, which to begin with left me completely cold. However on several further plays I have to admit it rather grew on me. To me the vocals have a "lived in" feeling. Such songs as "Care For Your Fellow Man" and the catchy "Break Free" portray the longings of a man to improve the lot of his fellow men. My only criticism is that this mini-album could have done with a couple more upbeat numbers. An interesting release from a singer/songwriter from Tennessee.
