Danny Connery is based in Ireland where he works with his local church musicians. This CD is a collection of songs that he has written for performance in church or use in worship times. A lot of them are demo quality with Danny's guitar and voice augmented by a few other instruments. There is a psalm-like quality to a great deal of this, sometimes because Danny has based a lot of the songs directly on Psalms! This is all okay but his thin voice and the dull production conspire against him. It's difficult to tell whether there is any raw songwriting talent lurking underneath the muddy sounds emerging from my speakers. I would imagine that this goes down very well within his own church circles but suspect that its wider appeal is hampered by the cheap sound where people are less likely to be indulgent.
