Dana came to a lot of Brits' attention last year opening for Daniel Bedingfield. Her album is a real treat! A singer/songwriter with a superb smoky voice and a set of gospel and blues-tinged pop to die for. Glover is a former model who has also played sax on five Peter Cetera albums before going it alone with Robbie Robertson’s Dreamworks label, for whom this is her debut – and what a debut. “Rain” is gloriously smoky, “Almost Had it All” is perfect radio-friendly pop, ably showcasing Glover’s rough and ready contralto, as is the tour de force that is “A Reason”. With musicians of the calibre of Abe Laboriel (Senior AND Junior), Vinnie Colaiuta, Michael Landau and Paulinho Da Costa on board in the project, Dana can’t really fail. Top class songwriting and effortlessly superb performances make this an album straight out of the top drawer and the ultimate antidote to the proliferation of anodyne plastic packaged stuff that continues to infect modern day pop music. Do yourself a favour and seek this one out, ‘cause this is what music is all about.

Pleased to say that ten years on I totally stand by that
review, and the album is STILL one of my absolute
favourites. As glorious now as it was back then.
