Despite the billing on this group from Arkansas' debut, 'No More Night' sounds more like a solo album by lead singer Adam Crutchfield than a band album, particularly as track two, a cover of "A Thousand Hallelujahs", is sung with just an acoustic guitar accompaniment. But no matter. Adam has an excellent voice able to reach some rather high notes and with a pleasing rock music gruffness when he comes down an octave. There are worship songs with "Power Of Your Presence" and the slow "Bethesda" being pretty memorable, although lyrically the band overuse words/themes like "freedom" and "power". The opener "Saviour King" sounds like the kind of anthem that would go down a storm in a youth worship celebration and the Americana-tinged "Where I Belong" is probably the best track here, though there's nothing here likely to make radio stations push to add it to their playlists. However, the overall impression CrutchfieldtheBand leave is of a team determined to communicate the delights of living under the shelter of God's wings. And that's a pretty good thing in my book.
