Messrs Casey Cappleman, Marty Hurt, Paul Smith and Chris Weaver, aka CrossWay, whilst inevitably sounding like a youthful version of the Gaither Vocal Band, present a more varied style than your average Southern Gospel quartet. Okay, most of it is the familiar bounce-along barbershop sort of stuff, but there's a tasty Easter-time inspirational ballad "Nothing More"; "Why Not" has a bluesy feel to it, with a neat touch of humour; "When God Says Go", co-written by gospel diva Babbie Mason, has more than a dash of soul in the mix; and "Crown Him King" is a chunk of well-crafted acappella. One of the best Southern Gospel albums I've heard for yonx.
