This is the debut release from a Dallas-based 18 year old singer/songwriter and pretty impressive it is too. The six-song EP is both atmospheric and biblically anchored. Following an unusual prologue featuring acoustic guitar and muted chanting, "Tidal Bomb" has a raw sound, with Colin's edgy vocals backed by scratchy violins (think early E.L.O.) jaggedly declaring how "awful is the time bomb." Strings, drums and guitar combine in "Walls" as Colin's distinctive vocals (at times not dissimilar to Captain Beefheart's) express his confidence in his house "built on solid ground" concluding "I will follow The Way." "Foreign Home" is an intricate mix of drums and guitar riffs providing a cluttered soundtrack to Colin's lyrical description of the earth's beauties before he declares, "I have been promised so much more" while the final track, "Proximity Effect", is a prayer acknowledging a creator God but also the singer's waywardness. The effect of Colin Onderdonk's proximity to his God is a refreshingly creative blend of prog-styled rock worship.
