This set of four songs is a taster for a full band album due for release this summer and is Cole's second private release. Cole's songwriting challenges the sometimes too comfortable position of contemporary Christianity and he is not intimidated by difficult issues. For instance, the issue of homelessness in London is dealt with in "Where The Fire Is Bright And Warm", a song written in aid of the housing charity Shelter. "My Lover Bleeds" is a song which explores the theme of God as our lover, an avenue which is further pursued in "The Undying Flame", which you may have heard on the Greenbelt compilation 'Down By The River'. Cole has been justifiably compared to such artists as Bruce Cock-burn and Neil Young and I shall be looking forward to the new album.
