Nashville's Christina is a young woman whose desire, according to her website, "is to break down barriers between parents and youth by providing common ground in Jesus Christ our Lord, through the universal language of music." This debut album is a step on the way towards that goal - and a very good first step it is. Here we have 11 songs of gutsy pop/rock with a set of clear and direct lyrics (check out "I Don't Care" and "Society's Wisdom" - the clue is in the titles) and some excellent backing music. Christina has a strong voice for someone who is still fairly young and she gives it full rein here. There are echoes of K T Tunstall and Belinda Carlisle in Ms Sanders' delivery as she works through an uplifting and challenging set, closing with the reflective and articulate "Father Me". Good production by Danny Duncan and some fine performances by the lead guitarist(s) add to the overall quality of the album. It will clearly appeal to youngsters, but whether they find common ground with their parents in the music of this particular album remains to be seen.
