This is the fourth CD from the father and son singing and songwriting team from West Wales, although son Tom is now an exile in Bristol, and the album was recorded in Tom's studio there. Chris describes the album as a mix of new songs and new acoustic recordings of some songs from their earlier albums, and overall has a less rocky, more gentle feel to it. As before, Chris wrote and sang the songs and Tom arranged and produced everything and played all the instruments. Each new album from Chris and Tom has been an improvement over the last and the quality of this one, bearing in mind the probable budget, bears comparison with some I've heard that have obviously had loads of dosh thrown at them. Granted, some of the songs are a tad on the weak side, but some of them are excellent - "Where Two Or Three Are Met Together" has a late-night mood to it, with mainly piano and brushed drum accompaniment, and "Prophetic Words" lollops along with some Latino drum effects and acoustic guitar. Well worth investigating.
