Imagine a cross between Michael Card and Rich Mullins and you're in the right ballpark here! Chris Wright has crafted an incredible independent album that deserves a wider release. Combining bits of folk, pop, rock and country into a sonically pleasing mellow experience of worship and much, much more. This isn't really a worship album but these are songs of wonder , penned to express the father heart God. That they have slipped through the barrier of my busy life and ministered to me is a testimony in itself! From the short fiddle and guitar opening through the piano-driven "The Awesome Handiwork Of God" and "How Far We Have Fallen", it's immediately clear that this is something special! Particularly good are "The Love Of The Father" and "Daddy Said No", which both begin with views of human fatherhood before broadening out into considering how God relates to us. Tender songs in a tender setting refresh the soul and "Desperately" is one of those prayer songs that encourages the listener to draw close to God. Like all of this exquisite album, it's a simple and beautiful song that sends me scampering off to find out more about the man who made the music!
