This is Charlie's long awaited "inspirational" album which comprises a bumper 18 tracks making it very good value for money. I know that Charlie has put a lot of effort into this album which is a mixture of love songs, hence the word "heart" in the title, and songs of faith represented by the word "soul", Charlie recognises the distinction by stating "as God is the source of all love, they can all be deemed songs of faith." It kicks off with Bob Dylan's "Blowin' In The Wind" and other well known songs including James Taylor's "You've Got A Friend". But there are more overt songs too like "One Day At A Time", "Put Your Hand In The Hand" and "Someone Is Looking For Someone Like You", popularised by Gail Davies. Apart from the Don Williams' oldie "Lord, I Hope This Day Is Good" the rest of the album is new material mainly written by Charlie. Some of these are romantic ballads and some are strong gospel material like "Saviour's Song" and the very thoughtful "Song For The Dragonfly". This fine album concludes with a live rendition of one of Charlie's gospel gems "Shine Your Light". A very enjoyable album, recommended to those who enjoy smooth MOR country.
