The Memphis-based rapper turned plenty of heads with his 'Dirty South Detergent' independent release earlier in the year. Now he has gone in a new direction, forming a band and signing to the fledgling Visible Media Group label. The sound of a live band behind him gives a completely different vibe so songs like "So Cold", "Rep One" and "Cups Up" almost take on a rapcore vibe! Certainly the rock thing broadens out his sound and it really works. The band are equally capable of creating a funky jazzy groove on "I Need More". There is no doubt that Cayerio has the chops as a writer and rapper and hopefully this five-track release will introduce him to a whole new audience. The fact that he is in Memphis rather than Nashville and not signed to a major gives him the artistic freedom to continue making imaginative music like this. Can't wait to see what he does next!
