It's always a pleasure for me to discover new gospel talent from the African continent, and Zimbabwean singer Carole Nyakudya certainly ranks up there with the best of them. Carole earned herself the Zimbabwean equivalent of a Brit/Grammy nomination with this album, which covers a range of styles - from the uptempo pop sound of the title track to the R&B of "He Reigns" and the balladry of "Your Word Says" and "You Are God". If it's African vibes you're after, the superb "Mumwe Wangu" and "Mandinkanganwa" do not disappoint at all. Nor does "Prayer For Zimbabwe", a heartfelt plea for God to help sort out her troubled homeland. I should also give a special mention to rapper/vocalist Xtra-Large, who guests on a couple of tracks. Apart from Carole's tendency to overdo the Cher vocoder thing, there isn't much to find fault with on this album. Excellent.
