Reviewed by Mike Francis "Vessel" is Carlene's second gospel album and is 10 years overdue. Her first , "Jesus Is Only A Prayer Away", was first released in 1988, Carlene has not always sung gospel, therefore she is a household name in Jamaica, known by Christians and non-Christian alike. In 1996 Carlene recommitted her life to the Lord and made a public declaration that she is now walking 100 per cent in the Lord Jesus. In her own words, "I was always one foot in and the other out ,but now it's all the way, letting go and letting God. "Vessel" is a reggae album with something for everyone. There is praise and worship reggae in the first track, "Holy, Holy ,Holy". There is dancehall reggae in "Wish I Knew Then", a duet with Papa San, and there is also a brilliant version of country singer Charlie Landsborough's classic "My Forever Friend". There are 17 tracks on this CD and I am sure everyone can find a track to suit their taste. "My Forever Friend", "Wish I Knew Then", and "Just To Be Close" are three of my favourite tracks.
