Carl Legere is an eclectic musician from (I believe) Tennessee who describes hs music as "rockin' soul music with country, blues and reggae rhythms - spiritually inspired with kick butt instrumentation." Unfortunately, 'I'm No Angel' doesn't live up to the billing. A fair start with the title track of the album in a country rock style, then straight into the reggae back beat of "Gone Too Long", and then the bluesy rock of "Like A Diamond". I soon found myself querying if the mix he speaks about actually works. For me, it didn't. There were too many average tracks of the different styles he speaks about. I'm all for a bit of variety, but I do wonder if this would have been a better album if one musical style was focussed on. Having said that, the truth of his message comes across.
