The thing about punk rock is that it doesn't do subtlety. If you go for shout-y vocals, careering tempos made for pogo-ing, and energised performances where immediacy is everything, then you'll enjoy this three-song EP from California's CPR. The guys, who were recently in the UK, told me that they weren't happy with the vocal balance on "Turn It Up" and they are already planning a remix and possible expansion of this release. But whatever its deficiencies, this EP with the explosive "Rally The Troops" and the powerful, thought-provoking "Fire The Fire" show a band with plenty to say and the determination to say it. . .loud.
