Brittney was born in Mobile, Alabama and raised in Ohio, where she discovered her talent at church. Later she sang with the Morgan State University and now serves as worship leader at Empowerment Temple AME church, Baltimore. The album penned with Joshua Lay, includes the single "I Win" which is a classic gospel track. The song encourages every listener to believe that they will overcome any situation they find themselves in with the help and power of Jesus Christ. "If I Never Said I Love You" has a laid back feel and the simplicity of the chorus sentiment sets it apart from the generic gospel sound which unfortunately is evident elsewhere. The album grows stronger towards the end, exemplified in the bass groove of "You Came And Changed My Life" pushed along by call-and-response vocals and a sassy brass section. The heavy-handed production on 'The Beginning' means that the depth of Brittney's vocal tone is at times lost in the layers of instruments and numerous studio effects. Despite that, this is a solid enough debut.
