Brian's a honkie but the category is the right one - Brian slinkily oozing soulful assurance on a set of tracks which wouldn't sound out of place on R&B radio. There's tasty programming from David Lyndon Huff, some smouldering guitar interjections and Brian purrs, ducks and dives like a good one. What is lacking, at least to these ears, are songs which instantly activate the ol' grey matter. The best numbers are the ballad, "No More Words" (co-composed by DC Talk maestro Toby McKeehan) and the cover of the old Maze R&B hit from 77 "Happy Feelin's" but I suspect Brian will need stronger material before he gets among the American front runners.

I purchased the cd in 2006 and I must say, it was one of the
coolest compilation I have ever heard. I fell in love with
almost all of the songs, particularly House of Love, Then
There Was You and of course, Simple Love. I still try
(without much success) to nail his pitch in House of Love
which I think was totally awesome. His work holds a lot of
promise but don't think that this statement undermines this
incredible piece of work.... well done Brian!
