With a voice that resembles half a dozen country stars (I'd suggest a cross between Tami Wynette mixed with Donna Smith) and crisp productions from several different Nashville studio folk this is much classier than you'd expect from an independent release. The songs in the main are excellent and largely about human relationships ("I can look in your eyes and know that you've been through hard times" she sings on the self composed "You Are The Reason") whilst the mid tempo "I Know You're Out There", co-composed by one of her producers Curt Ryle, has a moody arrangement and clever lyric about being haunted by thoughts of the love she's got to meet, is excellent. It's a shame that the one gospel song here "The Man In Sandals" is a decidedly old school number with an uninteresting retro arrangement. But there's no doubting Brenda is a fine talent just waiting for a big Nashville company to take her to the next level.
