Breez are a vast array of nine experienced and talented vocalists and musicians from churches in London and other parts of the South East who describe their sound as a blend of soul and jazz-funk. The line-up includes lead vocalist Vicky Gambleton, whose voice range is delightful, writer Lyn Goddard and evangelist Dave Gillard, from Biggin Hill Christian Fellowship, which spawned the dance band 1 Lite a few years ago. The sound is unique and refreshing with subtle writing and deserves wide interest. Part of the band's experience is with New Frontiers International and Stoneleigh but their focus is very much on reaching unchurched people. Opening track "Devotion" uses the line "Your love is lifting me higher than I have ever been lifted before," which you'll remember from an old Jackie Wilson classic. "Make Me A Channel" is a musical adaptation of the well known Prayer of St Francis. If this album doesn't make a real breakthrough for Breez, then the next one will.
