The Brass Band Of Central Florida have performed at The British Open Brass Band Championships, The Brass On Sunday Gala concert and The Brass in Concert Championship amongst others. The title of the album means a collection of miscellaneous things. This is certainly true! The album opens with "Heroic Fanfare", a tribute to the heroes of 11th September 2001 followed by a Spanish dance for a single couple "Fandango"! Highlights for me include the energetic and vibrant "Give It One", written for trumpet virtuoso Maynard Ferguson and the live concert performance of "Trolley Song" using a arrangement originally for Buddy Rich featuring (as you would expect) great drum playing (Rich Sweat). I also enjoyed "Nessun Dorma" which instead of a tenor features a soprano cornet. . . and it works brilliantly! This album demonstrates how versatile a brass band can be.

Product Description
In preparation for its tour of the United Kingdom in 2011, Brass Band of Central Florida (BBCF) endeavoured to design a series of concerts that would surprise, delight and challenge its audiences while still paying homage to the great British brass band tradition. In so doing, BBCF brought its considerable talents to bear on the widest array of musical styles and genres possible. The result is this recording and its unique title. Indeed, the title also represents what a brass band is at its most basic level.
More than any other musical ensemble, a brass band is a unique musical organisation, possessing a miscellaneous collection of people who bring a world of experience and talent to the group from every direction fathomable. What a wonderful foundation from which to make musical art! It is hoped this recording serves to show all the sides and colours this ensemble is capable of while being a truly enjoyable listening experience. No matter what your musical preference, there is something here for everyone.
