From the Scriptures on the artwork to the diverse and challenging lyrics, Georgia outfit Blood Bought P.I.F. bring some serious preachin! (as the album's title suggests). The album is packed with relevant issues, ranging from hypocrisy among Christians ("Wannabe's") to homosexuality and lust ("Alternative"). Midway through the album, there is also a spirited call to non-believers to give their life to Christ ("2nd Womb"). However, it is unlikely this offering is going to divert secularist hip-hop fans from their 50 Cent records. Sadly it fails badly on the hip-hop front, with beats (if they can be described as such) and a rhyming style which is at best monotonous. After a few songs the listener is likely to have lost interest and be reaching for their GritsĀ album, despite this album's worthy message. There is one standout track; though, the single "Queen", featuring the glorious backing vocals of Kisha. This R&B anthem aims to empower and celebrate women of God.
