In the States Bleach are building up quite a following and this, their second album, is getting plenty of US radio push. The music has a good rock feel to it, slightly indie at times, but some good guitar riffs and creative keyboards. I didn't like the hollow drum sounds and I found neither the vocals nor the lyrics particularly inspiring. Bleach handle ballads quite well - "Rundown Town" reminds me of the Bangles' "Eternal Flame" keyboardwise, but the guitar solo is just right. "Land Of The Lost" is a well constructed song and I like the bass riff on "Lonestar" too - those two are probably the best songs on the album. Some of the songs sound rather samey after a while though. I'm not sure what other bands you'd like if you also liked Bleach - there are shades of REM at times, but they're fairly original. I suspect they're louder live (the CD is a bit low key at times) - and make more of their guitar work - with justification.
