A haunting, solo female voice floats across gentle guitar chords, singing an uncomfortable description of her life filled with shame, depravity before she was washed by the "captivating" beauty of Jesus. This track starts the album by Jenny Bright, a singer/songwriter working alongside her husband, various family members and friends as Behind The Rush. The album is "a call to devotion and stillness before God" so simple backing of piano and/or guitar generally supports Jenny's melodic, solitary voice. The tempo is mostly slow leading the listener to concentrate on what is being expressed. Jenny wears her heart on her sleeve and leans heavily on the Psalms and other Scriptures for inspiration while a desire for Jesus to completely enter her life as Lord and friend is a recurring theme of the album. The honesty of this wish is conveyed by the fragility and timbre of Jenny's voice. Some variety in pace and style would perhaps provide a more rounded album. 'Captivated' is an album to use for contemplative individual worship and meditation.
