Aviyah is Hebrew for "God is our father." It's also the moniker of a harmony group from Virginia led by David and Linda Hargis. Their accompaniments attempt to be funky and contemporary (though rather cheaply executed), their harmonies are pleasant without being earth shattering and the 10 songs (all penned by David and Linda) abound in Old Testament imagery and have some strong melodies, "Hoshana" and "Adonai Yeshua" are the particular standouts, the latter featuring nice solo interjections from group member Kaye Wright. An album which largely overcomes the limitations of its budget line production.
