When the first swathe of this series landed in UCB’s post box, I wondered what the reasoning was behind their release. 18 graphically enhanced CDs later, I’m still a little bemused. Karaoke sessions at Christian youth fellowship meetings, or weaning people from the worthy but rather dated worship choruses that are a staple diet of the vast majority of church services, and getting them singing something a bit more up to date? If it were the latter, I might understand, but the choice of Avalon for the job is a little strange. Of the four songs here, “Testify To Love” is really the only one that’s sing-along-able, the others are really just for listening. That having been said, if you fancied setting up an Avalon tribute band, this would be a good place to start.
