Illinois four-piece Autumn War are one of the new wave of Christian combos who recognise rock doesn't have to equal amps turned to 11, their acoustic output dumbing down their obvious metal influences. Unfortunately, after three years together, they've still to learn the beauty of stripped down, simple songs. If they pruned their tracks back to the three minute mark, shed the cliched rolls and riffs and worked on crafting more melodies, this band could be onto something. Singer Christopher Bunn has a stirring voice and his colleagues can all play. Only, it's a shame that the best number here is the 'hidden' secret track featuring just Bunn and a guitar. This isn't a bad demo, but that is what it is - a demo. Prudent rock followers should send their cheques with caution.
