Ararat is a cover-all title for the Cathedral Choir Of Holy Etchmadzin, of Armenia, and the music and singing was recorded in Armenia and mixed in Liverpool. Denominationally the Armenian church is Eastern Orthodox; the supreme Patriarch has given the project his blessing, and 'River Of Tears' is a moody, atmospheric anthem for the millennium. No matter that the vocals are in a foreign tongue; the singing on the coral mix is superb, with a crystal clear soprano lead, and the two other mixes, one vocal, one instrumental, are full of ethnic instruments mixed in with drums, guitar and a synth or two. This might be worth considering if this sort of mood music appeals.
