This is some talented young lady - a whole album of songs she has written, arranged and played herself. Acceptable vocals: a flexible, pretty voice. She plays keyboards and trombone and has a fair range of styles thanks to adroit use of the computer. The musical ideas are derivative or it might be kinder to say eclectic but she's aiming for a popular style and that's fair enough. Interesting words (all printed, but only for those with 20/20 vision) all very biblical and sound. I like the title track idea with its feisty overtones of Vanity Fair. On the whole I found the songs too complex and wordy. People need simple hooks and riffs and I mean simple. Think about any popular chart song and notice just how basic it is. I suggest Annette road tests these songs now in churches, youth meetings and other gigs and allows them to be honed down.
