With a distinctive hardcore, punk vibe running throughout 'Wanting...', Anguish Unsaid take the listener on a roller coaster ride of sonic brutality. Best described as being a little "left field", there is such a wealth and variety of musical textures within this project that multiple listening is required in order to appreciate just how good this disc is. Once you get past the obscure vocal delivery (akin to Ninety Pound Wus), 'Wanting..' speaks for itself. The twin guitars of Faucett and Ross play well together, adding a richly compelling depth to Anguish Unsaid not immediately apparent, as in "Confession In Times Of Tribulation". This particular piece is a complex, multi-layered affair, sonically ranging from laid back alternative phrasing through to the more familiar hard core wall of sound. "Send Away", with its triumphant mood and tone, compelling the listener to rise above and die to self in the arena of thought, reveals an almost progressive side to Anguish Unsaid's music. More often than not, the band experiment with structure and familiar arrangements to superb effect, such as in "Compromise Collection". 'Wanting...Waiting' is a commendable work of art, brilliantly conceived and deftly delivered.
