One of the latest ministry areas receiving the attention of musicianary extraordinary Tony Loeffler is Cuba. As anyone who heard Tony at this year’s Cross Rhythms Festival will testify, at the moment he has such a burning desire to help Cuban Christians, and one of the ways is producing albums by local Christian singers (on occasion using the facilities of Communist-run recording studios!). Aliosha is a lady with a distinctive voice that is occasionally off key, but the production is perfectly acceptable and whilst my Spanish is pretty basic, I recognise enough words to realise that this is music glorifying the Saviour. Tony has to give these CDs away in Cuba (the average wage is only eight US dollars and 50 cents a month), but us well-heeled Westerners should dig deep into our pockets and stump up, because I can’t think of a more deserving destination for our cash than this.
