I confess since becoming a Christian I've always had a problem with Alex Bradford. It revolves around the fact that by all accounts he was a practising homosexual. However, Alex was of course a gospel music giant of the 50s, he hit big with "Too Close To Heaven", was a major musical (and maybe even moral) influence on Little Richard and in the 60s was one of the black gospel stars who took gospel to us European honkies .vith the "Black Nativity' musical. But Alex's lifestyle, in my book, just didn't add up. The music here? Alternative takes, unused material, a bluesy "I Found Someone" (resembling James Brown's "I Lost Someone"), an excellent alternative take of "Too Close To Heaven" and an above average "Over In Beulah Land".***
